What if Don Bradman had Played in 200 Tests? I’ve normalised the aggregates of some of the great players of all time to see what the statistics would be if they all had played exactly 200 tests.

It may come as no surprise that ‘the Don’ would still be still be head and shoulders above everybody in the rankings. If he had played 200 Test matches, Bradman could have almost 27,000 runs in his career and could have made an amazing 112 centuries. In real life, Bradman’s career was interrupted by World War II and he actually played only 52 tests and scored 6,996 runs at an average of 99.94 with 29 centuries.

This is only a mathematical projection created by normalising the actual statistics to assume everyone playing 200 tests. We know some players have very different results in the second half of their careers compared to their first. In this imaginary list, the current ‘real’ leader in terms of runs and centuries, Sachin Tendulkar, would drop down to 19th on aggregate and 11th in the list of century makers. I think it also shows that Tendulkar’s records may be very difficult to beat in practice.
